Download / Buy Unobsession is the last album released by Taraneh, an Iranian-American artist based in NYC, who worked for USA Today as a journalist in the past. It is also her first album with a band as her past releases were all solo projects ( A Fleeting Feeling , 2022 ; New Age Prayer , 2024) with tracks featuring Elusin, Evanora Unlimited, LUCY (Cooper B. Handy) and Ivy Knight. Unobsession is definitely a nü metal album compared to its predecessors, with surrounding blast beats and Taraneh's singing being hoarser in some songs ("Only One", "Magic 8"). The album's production contains multiple layers, thanks to walls of sound that remind us more of shoegaze and contrast with Taraneh's singing voice, deep and smooth at the same time. Songs's lyrics are inventive and disturbing as well as the album refers to the topic of obsession.
