Some records — or pieces of music in general — choose us more than we choose them. When I listened to Ylia's second album Ame Agaru for the first time, I was walking under 30° at 10 a.m. and I was starting to feel sensory overwhelmed so this album felt like the perfect soundtrack for this exhausting walk. Ame Agaru is an electronic and instrumental meditation about grief — the loss of a father, a grandfather and a cat — and the end of a relationship. It is both warm and comforting but also disturbing sometimes — "Drifting into the Good Night" is a mesmerizing track but it is also an invite to welcome sadness, anger and dread before sinking into their troubled waters. Ame Agaru — which means "the rain lifts" in Japanese — is not simply going to help you cleanse your mind and reset. It is very similar to grief work: some days, you will be able to live your daily life with no particular issues, and some days, it will feel unbearable. Ame Agaru is similar to a metaphorical and non-linear journey, sometimes enlightened by piccolo flute and clarinet, that ends on a vulnerable note with Ylia playing piano without the accompaniment of electronic devices or synths on "El Único Adiós Posible".

Certains albums — ou œuvres musicales en général — nous choisissent davantage qu'on ne les choisit. Quand j'ai écouté Ame Agaru, le second album d'Ylia, pour la première fois, je me baladais sous 30° à 10h du matin et je commençais à me sentir surchargée d'un point de vue sensoriel. Cet album s'est donc présenté comme la bande-son idéale pour cette promenade épuisante. Ame Agaru est une méditation instrumentale et électronique sur le deuil — la perte d'un père, d'un grand-père et d'un chat — et la fin d'une relation. C'est à la fois chaleureux et réconfortant mais aussi dérangeant — "Drifting into the Good Night" est un morceau fascinant mais il s'agit également d'une invitation à accueillir la tristesse, la colère ou l'angoisse avant de sombrer dans leurs eaux sombres. Ame Agaru — qui signifie "la pluie s'en va" en Japonais — ne vous aidera pas simplement à apaiser votre esprit. Cet album est similaire au travail de deuil : certains jours, on est en mesure de vivre sa vie alors que cela semble insoutenable à d'autres moments. Ame Agaru est similaire à un voyage métaphorique et non-linéaire, illuminé parfois par le piccolo et la clarinette, qui se clôture sur une note vulnérable avec Ylia jouant du piano sans accompagnement électronique ou synthés sur "El Único Adiós Posible".
