I have had troubles listening to new music during the past few weeks and coming back to songs, albums or sounds that are part of my comfort zone has been a great help. Sinead O Brien's music brings me back memories from February 2020, when I was looking for meaningful answers to questions that weren't even mine. Sinead O'Brien was born in Dublin and she grew up in Limerick before moving in London. Her poetry has been published in The London Magazine and she also worked in fashion (Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano). "Limbo" is full of wit and is similar to a kind of automatic writing with abrasive guitars riffs on it, like an endless stream of incantations that will teach you how to live your chaotic life — all of her music seems like a collage of spoken word and post punk and it's not surprising to know that Sinead O'Brien is both inspired by W.B Yeats and Mark E. Smith. "Limbo" remains my favorite song from her, even if I have to admit that "A Thing You Call Joy" haunted me for weeks just because of the lyrics ("Why am I forever in recovery from a thing you call joy?" speaks for itself). All of her music is both hypnotic and brainy at the same time and her debut album Time Bend and Break the Bower (2022) also explores more danceable atmospheres ("Like Culture", "Spare for My Size, Me").

J'ai eu du mal à écouter de nouvelles choses ces dernières semaines et revenir à des morceaux, des albums ou des sonorités qui font partie de ma zone de confort m'a beaucoup aidée. La musique de Sinead O'Brien m'évoque des souvenirs de février 2020, lorsque j'étais à la recherche de réponses profondes à des questions qui ne m'appartenaient pas. Sinead O'Brien est née à Dublin et a grandi à Limerick avant de déménager à Londres. Ses poèmes ont été publiés dans The London Magazine et elle a également travaillé dans la mode (Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano). "Limbo" est un morceau plein d'esprit qui ressemble à une sorte d'écriture automatique avec des riffs de guitare abrasifs, comme un flux sans fin d'incantations qui apprennent à vivre son existence chaotique — l'ensemble de sa musique ressemble à une rencontre entre le spoken word et le post punk et ce n'est guère étonnant d'apprendre que Sinead O'Brien est aussi inspirée par W.B Yeats que par Mark E. Smith. "Limbo" demeure mon morceau favori même si je dois admettre que "A Thing You Call Joy"  m'a hantée pendant des semaines simplement à cause de ses paroles ("Why am I forever in recovery from a thing you call joy?" parle de lui-même). Toute sa musique est à la fois hypnotique et futée et son premier album Time Bend and Break the Bower (2022) explore également des ambiances plus dansantes ("Like Culture", "Spare for My Size, Me").
